By plane

The airport in Düsseldorf is the nearest and provides direct rail links (travelling time 8-10 min.) in the direction of Duisburg.

From Cologne/Bonn airport the car journey takes between 45 and 90 minutes depending on the traffic situation. By train the journey takes approximately one hour.

By car

The main connecting routes in the Ruhr are:
- A40 (Venlo[NL]/Duisburg/Essen/Dortmund)
- A2/A3 (North-south connection through Germany – Emmerich-Passau)

At the Duisburg-Kaiserberg motorway interchange cloverleaf these are linked up to each other. From these two motorways further links to the traffic routes:
- A57 Nijmegen [NL]/Krefeld/Neuss
- A52 Essen/Düsseldorf
- A42 Kamp-Lintfort/Oberhausen/Dortmund
- A59 Duisburg's north-south link.

By train
